Foreign Credit Recognition and Recommendation Letters

On these pages you will find information on the recognition of academic achievements abroad and the procedure for the preparation of reports.

In order to get credit for courses taken abroad please follow the steps below:

Step 1:

Pleas fill in a document for recognition of credits received abroad for every single course.

Please use the link to the document in the Wiwi-Portal: Recognition agreement for courses taken abroad. Afterwards, the document can be downloaded as PDF.

There are the following options for recognizing a course:

  • Using the original title (the title of the course as stated on the certificate, the course falls under the additional offers of the module)
  • Special course (“Special course” will be noted in the certificate, the course falls under the additional offers of the module)
  • Curricular KIT achievement (KIT course will be noted in the certificate, there must be a significant overlap of contents)

Please also retrieve a detailed description of the courses you are aiming to take. This could in form of a link attached to the E-Mail or as PDF included with the Application document. The description should include the following information:

  • Name of the university abroad
  • Country in which the university resides
  • Name of the course
  • Lecturer
  • Study program that the course is offered in
  • Whether the course if for Undergraduate or Postgraduate (Please note that only course on Master level can be recognized for Master students)
  • SWS of the course
  • ECTS-points abroad
  • Contents of the course

  • Copy/PDF-file of the module handbook or a link to the respective website of the university abroad which contains the information

Please note that within our modules at least one course must be taken at the KIT, i.e. it is not possible to complete the entire module abroad.

Step 2: Please send the documents (as PDFs) to Kevin Kopp (Digital Marketing) depending on the specific course or module. After the processing of your document concludes, you will receive an E-Mail including feedback. Please note that the processing of your documents might need up to 3 weeks.
